Renting a car in Mexico – Tips and advices

- To be able to rent a car in Mexico, you should be at least 25 years old. 
- Your local driving permission is accepted along with a credit card for a security deposit. 
- According to the Mexican law, it is compulsory to hire an insurance while renting a car. If you are involved in an accident and you are uninsured, you may be arrested and pay for the damage you’ve caused in order to be freed from jail. 

Renting a car in the United States – Tips and advices

- You need to be above 21 or even above 25 to rent a car in the US. In order to rent the car, companies will ask you for your passport as well as for your visa, so keep them in hand.

- To drive in the US, you need to have a full and valid driver’s licence from your home country. Also, International Driving Permit (IDP) is needed.

- The proof of insurance is needed to drive a car too. Keep it with you while driving.

- You need to be equipped with warning triangles in case of accident. American law says it is compulsory to bring them in your car.

- If you want to drive through Mexico, many car rental companies in the U.S. will include a Mexico insurance which will be charged aside from the current charge for renting a vehicle. Be aware of it since not all car rental companies will allow you to drive outside the U.S.
